About Item #2, the camera ... it MUST have the capability to take a halfway decent picture of the moon. Sigh. My current camera is becoming increasingly insufficient.
Most point & shoots cannot focus well at night. Yes, there is a flash but it's primarily for "fill" purposes where there is sufficient light for the autofocus to function. One other item necessary for celestial photos - a tripod, for those longer than normal exposures. You know, where the aperature is wide open and the length of time for it to be in that state is greater than one second.
The idea of this list of goals fits in nicely with where I am in my life - ready for some changes, and a little extra enjoyment along the way sounds good. I live in the Pacific Northwest with my family, and I am a professional musician.
