Whew - there's one more down for Item #41 (write 50 essays). I just finished my final edit of the first paper for my Creative Non-Fiction Writing class, and didn't remember until just before hitting "print" that it was supposed to be 1,000 words.
1,414 is sort of like 1,000, isn't it?

It depends...was 1,000 words the minimum or the maximum?
ReplyDeleteNo less, no more? Seems restrictive for a Creative Writing Class unless maybe the creative part is to get it said in 1,000 words on-the-dot.
ReplyDeleteThese made me smile! :) 1,000 words was a general suggestion. He said it shouldn't be much less, and it could be more, but told us (from personal experience) that if a magazine or newspaper editor says 1,000 words, they REALLY don't mean 1,200, they mean 1,000. Also, the idea was to edit to the point that we had 1,000 really good words instead of 1,400 that included some unnecessary padding. Ah well ... if I get a B in an audited class, it's not going to affect my GPA because I don't HAVE one. ;)
ReplyDeleteHow good were the extra 400 words?
ReplyDeleteWelllll ... I think I'm going to try to kill 114 of them tonight. ;)
ReplyDeleteSend a picture. Isn't it worth a thousand words?
